Project Happiness explores and analyzes the differences between emotions we choose to expose to others, and those we systematically internalize. In various documented moments, a certain pressure develops to project an emotion one wants to remember, or for others to see.

For some, the emotions captured visually do not accurately represent the emotions capture the emotions felt at that moment in time. Many people not only experience this dichotomy when being photographed or documented but live with it every day, faced with the personal pressure of habitually maintaining an emotion to present to others.

To explore these disconnections visually, Project Happiness includes portraits taken with a 4x5 camera, and modern video recordings taken and dictated by the participants.
